Apparently Dr. Dre Scrapped Detox Album Title Years Ago (but Not the Album)

Aftermath producer Dawaun Parker says Dre renamed the project years ago, but assures that there’s still a record on the way.

As it turns out, Dr. Dre's mythical Detox album will not actually be called Detox. During a recent appearance on Jeff Weiss and MC Nocando's Shots Fired podcast, Aftermath producer Dawaun Parker let it slip that Dre has quietly rechristened his long-overdue opus. “He scrapped Detox a couple of years ago and came up with another title,” said Parker, though he declined to share the project's new name. “I won’t say what the title is because I haven’t seen it online or anything yet.”

The long-held title may have been tossed, but the album, Parker assured, was not. As far as he knows, Dre has recorded any number of bangers and is just waiting on the right lead-off single to hit. “I feel like one day, he's gonna wake up and say, ‘Today's the day and I'll put it out.' Because the music's been there,” he said. So, uh, guess we'll just have to keep waiting. Check out the rest of the interview excerpt above.
