Flying Lotus Descends Higher on “Coronus, The Terminator”

Hear the latest single from Flying Lotus’ much-anticipated “You’re Dead!”

September 18, 2014

Flying Lotus has taken a turn for the worse, and is all the better for it. After years of producing terse, astral beats that awakened countless producers in his native Los Angeles, he's reemerged obsessed with the macabre--a new album You're Dead! has produced two chilling singles, on one of which Kendrick Lamar frantically warns You gon' hate me when I'm gone, and a mind-bending clip that recasts the decomposition of human bodies through manga storyboards. "Coronus, The Terminator" is dark in a different way: the production is swollen and driven, at moments optimistic, and FlyLo slinks over it with Andre-esque dungeon funk. There's nowhere left to go, so I pray to save you, he sings, and you can't tell whether he's looking up or coming down. On Tuesday, September 23rd, Flying Lotus will partner with TUMBLR IRL to premiere music from You're Dead! alongside original contributions from visual artists Shintaro Kago, Strangeloop, and Timeboy. RSVP hereYou're Dead! is out October 7th on Warp.
