Columbian songstress Kali Uchis released Drunken Babble in 2013, a sugary set of ballads that lifted the swing of '60s soul with vocals drenched in hazy, glo-fi reverb. She reemerges today with "Know What I Want"—her voice is front and center this time, and the grain of old soul rips has been wiped clean. She's still taking dudes to task: I brush it off and try to act all nonchalant, I notice everything, I just act like I don't, she sings, channeling Gwen and Amy over spacey ska. Lurking through texts and banishing suitors to the friend zone is juvenile, sure, but if Kali has a songwriting gift, it's making adolescent love sound as achy as it feels. Her EP Por Vida is due a the top of 2015 and will feature production from Tyler, the Creator, catch up on Kali via our F92 GEN F profile.
