Every year at the start of The FADER FORT Presented by Converse in NYC, there's a lingering question: last year was wild, but can we top it? Last night, at the end of Day One, it definitely felt like that was a possibility. Whether you were sipping Avion cocktails, chilled Budweiser, ice-cold vitaminwater, or just coasting by on good vibes, the turn up was real. Before destined-to-thrive DIY rap crew Awful Records shouted-out their boy iLoveMakonnen (who plays The FORT on Saturday!), we were treated to sets from Cathedrals, DMAs, and BØRNS. You might have caught the unplanned moments on our livestream, powered by Dell I Intel, but if you didn't we'll fill you in: GEN F breakout DeJ Loaf came out of nowhere in a straw hat to perform her runaway hit "Try Me" right in the middle of Rae Sremmurd's already wild set and Dev Hynes joined his best buddy Adam Bainbridge, aka Kindness, on stage at the tail end of the party. Browse live photos from night one above and—if you're in NYC—we'll see you tonight. 😘
