It's been almost fifteen years since Voodoo dropped, and the stars seem to be aligning in such a way that it at last seems feasible that D'Angelo's forever in-the-works new album is actually be near on the horizon. Last month the reclusive star announced a run of European tour dates dubbed "The Second Coming Tour." Last night Reddit's resident HipHopHeads turned up a fifteen-second video trailer for an album title Black Messiah, which can be seen below. Could this be D'Angelo's new album? A representative for D'Angelo declined to comment, but these tweets from author Nelson George suggest the record is indeed called Black Messiah, and may drop soon:
