D’Angelo’s First U.S. Performance Will Be At NYC’s The Apollo

The enigmatic singer takes it back to where it all began.

January 16, 2015

D'Angelo's first performance following the surprise release of Black Messiah will be held on Saturday, February 7 at the Apollo Theater in Harlem. This will be the enigmatic singer's first headlining gig at the New York institution, but don't be surprised if there is a hint of nostalgia in the air—so the legend goes, D'Angelo competed in the venue's "Amateur Night" when he was just 16 and used his winnings to purchase recording equipment. He'll be joined by his band, the Vanguard; tickets for the February 7 show go on sale starting on January 21 at 10 a.m. EST. See you there?
