This Vine Of Drake Harlem Shaking Has Us Dead

Drake getting busy on stage at Irving Plaza.

February 24, 2015

I'm so happy this Vine exists. When I saw Drake open for Nas during All Star Weekend at Irving Plaza, he pulled a girl on stage for what he thought would be a good clean underaged twerk session, but it quickly derailed into a dance contest when it became clear the girl wouldn't be twerking. This was Drake's bid: a feather-light, fairly limp Harlem Shake complete with the classic throw-a-ball-in-the-air-and-watch-it-fly-for-four-counts move, as pioneered by J-Way AKA I'm That Character in 2006. His Shake probably gets a 4/10, part Tyrone Biggums "Deep Cover" cameo, part Lil Bow Wow BET Awards performance. I honestly could write about Drake trying to Harlem Shake while linking to hilarious early 2000s media for the rest of the day but you probably have shit to do, so just watch it on loop with me ten more times below.
