Solange—who has largely stayed quiet since releasing her True EP in 2012 and overseeing the Saint Heron compilation in 2013—unveiled a new song during a live performance last night. The track, titled "Rise," was inspired by recent instances of police violence and the subsequent protests in Ferguson and Baltimore. The singer said she has not yet decided if "Rise" will appear on her next album.

Solange's show was part of Bessie's 81 Theater Tour, an event organized by HBO to raise anticipation for the Bessie Smith biopic premiering on the channel tomorrow night at 8 PM.
