It’s the beginning of a new week, which means there’s a new Future clip—an appearance at Hot 97's Summer Jam can’t derail his ongoing weekly video project. This time, he takes on “Never Gon Lose,” from his 56 Nights tape. It’s a grim, committed song, full of lines like, “I do what I want, and I smoke 'til I'm faded / I drink till I pass out, I wake up and I drink up again.” While Future’s videos have often involved others—a large group of friends on the basketball court in “Layup,” or DJ Esco acting out going crazy in “56 Nights”—this one is almost entirely the rapper by himself. It verges on claustrophobic at times, as most of it takes place in the narrow space between two parked vans. Near the end of the clip, Future tilts his head back and unleashes a potent scream.
