Szjerdene And Quays Make Self-Reflective Soul Together On “Find Me”

The Bonobo-approved vocalist is finding her own voice with a little help from the London producer.

Two expats a long way from home find each other on "Find Me": there's Szjerdene (pictured), a Londoner displaced in Amsterdam, and Quays, the London-based New Yorker (who, in keeping with the long-distance theme, used to release tracks via voicemail). Pick up those pieces, they lead to me, Szjerdene sighs in what started out as a freestyle over Quays' far-flung minimalist beat. The British singer found her footing as a featured recording and live vocalist for Bonobo and Lapalux, but today is finding her own way through songwriting. Over email, Szjerdene tells The FADER that the object of "Find Me" is herself; it's all about "self-reflection." "Everything you hear is a fraction of what goes on inside of my head. Working with Quays to record and develop my untamed trains of thought has been a blessing!" Hear them work it out together below, and get the single on iTunes on July 24th.
