Watch Chance The Rapper Perform “Sunday Candy” With Kirk Franklin

Chance called on one of his favorite gospel musicians for help at the Pitchfork Festival.

Chance the Rapper closing out this year’s Pitchfork Festival offered a feel-good moment: a local star performing on one of his hometown’s biggest stages. He ended the set with “Sunday Candy,” a collaboration with Donnie Trumpet & The Social Experiment that appeared on the Surf album earlier this year. The MC brought out a few special guests to sweeten the deal, including gospel great Kirk Franklin and Jamila Wilson, who sang the sweet hook on the album version. Chance is an avowed fan of Franklin: at a Harvard University lecture back in May, he told the class, “One of my favorite—if not my favorite artists, definitely my favorite composer—is Kirk Franklin.” Watch the video above and check out FADER’s cover story on Chance the Rapper.
