Kendrick Lamar worked with Reebok to design a new line of Ventilators that promotes peace between two rival gangs, the Bloods and the Crips. One shoe comes with red accents, while the other leans blue, embracing the colors favored by both groups. The tongues of both shoes read “neutral.”
In the latest trailer for the shoes, a real life Blood (G Weed) and Crip (Jigga) discuss the power of Lamar’s statement. “Music is really influential,” notes G Weed. “Everything start with kids. [Kendrick’s message] make[s] these kids wanna be cool with each other no matter what neighborhood they grow up in.” Jigga adds, “Kendrick is giving us a reason, or an understanding, of why we should have unity.”
