The co-founder of electronic music label SCI-FI & FANTASY, NYC producer Lamin Fofana has long been infatuated with the idea of space. In his first self-released EP Another World, which dropped last month, Fofana paired techno beats and nebulous pads to create instrumentals that seek to contrast the reality of our world with what's beyond.

In "Phone Home," off his upcoming EP New Horizons (named after NASA's recent historic mission), Fofana attempts to reconnect with humanity. The track's flitting, arpeggiating synths seem to bubble up organically, evoking the feeling of making contact with another life-form. "'Phone Home' came together fast," Fofana told The FADER over email. "I was interested in exploring the idea of communication breakdown, losing touch, and reestablishing a connection but from vast, astronomical distance."
