ANOHNI Teams Up With Hudson Mohawke And Oneohtrix Point Never On “4 Degrees”

“A brutal attempt to hold myself accountable.”

In a recent interview, ANOHNI—who used to make music as Antony—suggested that her new album would be a major change of direction. "The record is as different as could be from my previous work," she noted. "I am not sure that many of you who prefer the early chamber music style will enjoy it! It is a dance/experimental electronic record with quite a dark thematic undertow. It is an album I felt very compelled to produce."

To help achieve the "dark thematic undertow," she worked with a pair of electronic artists, Hudson Mohawke and Oneohtrix Point Never. The first single, which surfaced today, shows the hallmarks of HudMo in its brassy, triumphant beat. But the subject matter is grim: I want to burn the sky, I want to burn the breeze/ I want to see the animals die in the trees.

In that same interview, ANOHNI called "4 Degrees" "a brutal attempt to hold myself accountable, not just valorize my intentions but also reflect on the true impact of my behaviors." Listen above.
