Israeli MC Miss Red and U.K. producer The Bug have collaborated on "No Guns," the first taste of her Murder mixtape that's out now on her own Red Label (download it here). It's a menacing number, over which Miss Red's aggressive yet addicting bars speak to the horrors of guns: Leggo’ the gun/ Leggo’ the gun, she pleads.

There's more to the story, too: "The song is about a DJ that carries his gun everywhere he goes and he keeps on carrying it because he plays good music, nobody say a ting," Miss Red told The FADER over email. "This song is also calling all bad minded to put their gun down cuz people [have] had enough."

On the track, The Bug takes the “Sleng Teng” riddim by dub royalty King Jammy and completely revamps it—accelerating its pace, giving it an almost industrial edge. “The 'Krak Teng Riddim' is taken from my homage/deconstruction of the classic 'Sleng Teng' riddim, which Elektron just released as 'The Bug Vs Sleng Teng,'” he told The FADER. “Red heard the beat when we were workin together in the studio on another tune, freaked out, and immediately grabbed the mic and demanded the rhythm for her mixtape, in her own inimitable style. How could I say no? She destroyed it in the best sense.” Listen to the full mixtape on the YouTube playlist below.
