It’s got the funk.

In making their self-titled debut album Ibeyi, released earlier this year by XL Recordings, French-Cuban twins Lisa-Kaindé and Naomi Diaz rediscovered their childhood closeness. Working with family is tough, as they nod to in our interview with them, but also magical. Now, award-winning U.K. producer Mark Ronson has created a "re-fix" of Ibeyi's "Stranger / Lover," and it speaks to richness that a new perspective can bring. Ronson's take on the sisters' soulful odd to a souring relationship catapults it into funk-fueled, righteous R&B anthem territory. “I’ve never worked so closely with an artist when doing a remix before," Mark Ronson told The FADER. "It was more like producing a track from scratch than making a remix." Listen for yourself, and check the original's beautiful video below.
