"Easier Said" uses the tools favored by crisp '80s rock bands from England: clipped drums, spindly guitar, and reassuring, highly melodic basslines played with stubborn frequency. The track explores the distance between thought and action: the phrase I heard you write the first time comes up again and again.
Sunflower Bean told Stereogum, "'Easier Said' is a song about a couple of things—us and the people around us getting older, and the repetitions and circles that we find ourselves in. Things that are easier to feel and harder to describe."
