Lust For Youth, the synth-pop trio with a criminally slept-on Twitter account, will release a new full-length in March on Sacred Bones. From what we've heard, it seems like the Copenhagen-based group is leaning further into 1980s dance-pop elegance than ever before. The album will include last year's ecstatic loosie "Better Looking Brother," as well as the gorgeously produced opener "Stardom," which is premiering below. It's the vibiest love song they've made yet, hinged on a scuffed backbeat and a hopelessly wistful synth melody. I'm content in your bed/ but I'm floating in the air, frontman Hannes Norrvide bellows at one point. It's shiny and uplifting, but sort of a downer too.
"'Stardom' is a portrait of a fleeting euphoria and a sense of unity that we unfortunately only experience in passing and often very late at night," the band told FADER in an email. "It is about being so happy that you automatically become sad as well and it is at once a very familiar and a very strange feeling. I can’t say how to get there but last time I found it, I was in a toilet stall at 3 am, with Faithless's "We Come 1" blasting on a PA in the next room." Sounds about right. Compassion is out March 18.
