Draped in a cape of raven back feathers, British soul singer Laura Mvula leads in a vital, vigorous, and somewhat ceremonial-like dance in this new video for "Overcome," a recent collaboration with the venerable Nile Rodgers.

The song and stunning new video are meant to echo what "joy feels like—eventually," Mvula wrote in an email to The FADER. "We’re all going through something, but even 'the caged bird sings of freedom.'" Or, as she sings with a calm precision over Rodgers' wobbly guitar line: It ain't no time to die/ even though we suffer.

Watch the stunning video for "Overcome" and feel a little maybe just a little more alive.
