Listen To A Previously Unreleased DJ Rashad, DJ Spinn, And Taso Collaboration

“DJ Rashad was the Jimi Hendrix of the MPC.”

Bay Area producer Taso, a satellite member of Chicago footwork crew Teklife, has today released a new EP titled Cold Heat Vol. 1. There's enough eyeball-peeling bass and tense melodic runs to sate dancers hungry for new sounds to move to, but there's also a gift for your spirits in the form of "Nothin's Gonna Stop Me," a just-plain-gorgeous track he made with DJ Rashad and DJ Spinn back in 2013.

"We were working out of my lab in downtown San Francisco," Taso told The FADER. "All we used was a MPC2000XL and Ableton to get the job done. Honestly, that's more than we needed and that's why I always loved the experience of working with the big bros so much. It was always a learning experience and an honor making cold heat alongside the greats. DJ Rashad was the Jimi Hendrix of the MPC...RIP." You can listen to the full EP over on Bandcamp.
