Killer Mike, a vocal supporter of Bernie Sanders, came under fire yesterday for remarks about Hillary Clinton at a campaign event. “That’s what the other Democrat is telling you: hold on Black Lives Matter, just wait a while,” Mike argued. (You can watch above around 38:30.) “Hold on young people in this country, just wait a while. Then she get good—she’ll have your own mama come to you and say, ‘well, you’re a woman.’ But I talked to Jane Elliott a few weeks ago, and she said, ‘Michael, a uterus doesn’t qualify you to be the President of the United States.’ You have to have policy that’s reflective of social justice.”

Clinton supporters took issue with the rapper’s statement on Twitter, suggesting it was sexist. Mike defended his words. “I wud gladly see Any one who can lead this country on behalf of the worker lead,” he wrote. “Cynthia McKinney, Elizabeth Warren, Connie Rice. I’m ready… i don’t and never will Hate or think less of woman. Sen. Nina Turner is my Next Great Political Champ but I’m sorry No HRC for me.” A representative for Killer Mike did not immediately return a request for comment. Read his tweets below.
