Killer Mike has filed a lawsuit against two private security companies involved in his arrest at the 2024 Grammys, TMZ reports. The rapper was detained during last year's ceremony over a confrontation with a guard at the Peacock Arena.
Mike was detained after allegedly pushing a security guard when he was denied reentry to the arena. His lawsuit alleges that he had all the necessary credentials, and accuses S&S Labor Force Inc. and JRM Private Security of giving their employees too much leeway in making citizen's arrests. He is suing for physical damages as well as emotional distress and reputational harm.
Police arrested Mike during the ceremony, releasing him after its conclusion. He was slated to present an award, but was reportedly held at a jail cell into the following morning. That same evening, Mike won awards for Best Rap Album (MICHAEL), Best Rap Song, and Best Rap Performance ("Scientists & Engineers" featuring André 3000, Future and Eryn Allen Kane).
The security guard in question attempted to press charges for misdemeanour battery, but prosecutors declined to pursue the case.
