The rapper won three awards tonight before being detained for misdemeanor battery.

Update: February 5. Killer Mike was released by police after being arrested for misdemeanor battery at the Grammy Awards on Sunday, Variety reports. The rapper’s lawyer confirmed that the three-time Grammy winner had been released: “He’s out and will be celebrating his sweep tonight.”

Killer Mike has been escorted from the Crypto.com Arena in handcuffs after winning three Grammy awards, footage posted to X by The Hollywood Reporter’s Chris Gardner shows. The veteran Atlanta rapper won Best Rap Album for his 2023 project Michael, as well as Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song for “Scientists & Engineers,” a track from the album featuring André 3000, before apparently being removed from the ceremony. A subsequent post from Gardner showed an official telling one of Mike’s team members the rapper may be released from custody later tonight. The FADER has reached out to a representative of Killer Mike for further comment.
