According to Pitchfork, Lowe made the announcement on his show today: "Coming up at some point in the next 12 hours, new music will emerge and you will hear the first new interview with Tony [Di Blasi] and Robbie [Chater] a.k.a. the Avalanches."

In April, The Avalanches announced they would play a few festival dates in Europe and Australia. That was followed up in May with a trailer for a project involving the band called Since They Left Us, which many took to mean new music was on the way. A few days later, a telephone hotline emerged that fans could call and hear a 30 second sample of a new song some referred to as "Subways."
