Having worked with Carly Rae Jepsen and Charli XCX in recent years, Rostam Batmanglij decided to quit Vampire Weekend back in January and focus on his solo career as an artist and producer. This past weekend, June 11, he played his first solo show, opening up for Brian Wilson at the Northside Festival in New York.

As the fan footage shows, Batmanglij was joined at Brooklyn’s McCarren Park by Angel Deradoorian and regular collaborator Wes Miles of Ra Ra Riot. The set featured songs by Discovery (Batmanglij's project with Miles) and new solo material. He was backed by dancers and a string quartet during the set.
