Last week, Jay Z and The Weinstein Company announced a two-year film and TV deal. "“I’m excited to tell stories from real-life prophets, whom through their struggles have changed the world for the better, and others whose stories are filled with fantasy and delight," Jay Z said in a press release.
At a press conference in New York City on Thursday, Jay Z and Harvey Weinstein announced an upcoming biopic about the life of seminal comic Richard Pryor, according to a FADER writer at the event. Responding to Weinstein's joke that the pair will be working on a "more commercial" project eventually, Jay Z said "there's nothing more commercial than Richard Pryor. His story is an American story."
