Beyoncé's record-breaking nine Grammy nominations this week see her competing in the pop, rock, rap, and R&B categories at next year's ceremony. However, according to the Associated Press, Bey also wanted to get a nod in the country section but was rejected by the committee in charge of deciding the nominees.

A source close to the Recording Academy's nominating process said that "Daddy Lessons" was submitted to the country category and could have competed for the Best Country Song or Country Solo Performance titles. However, the anonymous source said that the country music committee rejected the song.

Beyoncé performed the Lemonade single at the Country Music Awards In November alongside the Dixie Chicks. They later released their collaborative version of the song.
