Solange And Questlove Tapped To Honor Prince And David Bowie At Yale Conference

Black Star Rising & the Purple Reign will honor the two icons with a series of talks and performances.

From January 25 to 28, Yale will host Black Star Rising & the Purple Reign, an interdisciplinary conference honoring the legacies of David Bowie and Prince. In order to do so, the event will bring together an impressive group of artists and writers, including Solange and ">Questlove.

Timed to coincide with the first anniversary of David Bowie's passing, the conference features a variety of musical and speaking events. Solange will speak with the event's lead curator, Yale professor Daphne A. Brooks, for a keynote conversation, while Questlove will help curate a "crtical DJ discussion" of favorite songs from both artists along with Kimbra.

Other featured speakers and performers include TV on the Radio, Sheila E., Blackstar collaborator Donny McCaslin, and legendary rock critic Greil Marcus. Read more about the event and find tickets here, via the Hartford Courant.
