Meltdown Festival is the annual event in which a figure from the world of arts and culture curates a series of events at London's Southbank Centre. This year's curator will be M.I.A. No line-up details have been announced at the time of writing but M.I.A. follows artists such as David Bowie, Yoko Ono, Patti Smith, Morrissey, and Pulp's Jarvis Cocker in overseeing the festival.

“For me this Meltdown will be about putting on a musical week that shows different types of music which have inspired each other to exist,” M.I.A. said in a statement. “Genres that support other genres, redefining the concept of a melting pot. Respect the history, don’t live in it. I plan to bring together music’s best forward thinkers who have contributed to all our lives. When music acts as inspiration, it’s boundary-less.”

The 2017 edition of Meltdown runs from June 9-18. Head to the Southbank Centre website for more information.
