Star Wars: The Last Jedi is officially the highest-grossing film in 2017, despite being released only three weeks before it ended. The high-concept spaceship movie about how men screw up basically everything by being arrogant and impulsive has brought in $1 billion since it opened on December 14, ushering in the strongest movie going weekend of the year.

The Last Jedi stars John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Oscar Isaac, and also Laura Dern. It is the only good Star Wars movie I've ever seen, and I am not surprised that it has made this much money, especially at the end of 2017, which was otherwise bad.
