Right now, all eyes are on Team USA at the Winter Olympics. Even Britney Spears has found a reason to be invested in the global competition, as demonstrated by her tweets of encouragement to ice skater Adam Rippon and skier Gus Kenworthy. Naturally, both athletes immediately responded to the queen of pop.
A few weeks ago, Kenworthy posted a spread of photos with Rippon on Twitter with the caption "We're here. We're queer. Get used to it." Spears has always been an ally of the LGBT community so this public display of solidarity for the gay athletes on Team USA shouldn't shock anyone that has closely followed her career. Spears will be honored with the Vanguard Award at the 29th Annual GLAAD Media Awards in April. They don't call her an icon for nothing!
