Today, October 17, is Black Poetry Day, an annual observation on the birthday of Jupiter Hammon, the first black poet published in the United States. What better way to celebrate than a new video from Jamila Woods. Yesterday, the Chicago artist and activist shared the clip for "Giovanni," an affirming song about honoring identity. It comes with an explorative nine minute video, which you can watch above.
