Erstwhile emo frontman, persistent Billboard chart insurgent, and eternally handsome man Brendon Urie said in an interview last year with Rock Sound that he wanted to "do a metal project." He backed that up soon after by playing a 90-second metal version of Panic! At the Disco's “The Calendar” while streaming on Twitch. The sound quality sucked; there was a major chord in the chorus; there was no need to think about the matter any further.

Today, however, Urie has returned with a brutal full-length original, replete with guttural vocals, shit loads of double bass drum fills, and an imposing riff. As Consequence of Sound's Lake Schatz points out, doesn't sound anything like Urie's recent Taylor Swift collaboration.

May the spirit of the early Give It A Name Festival never die. Watch Brendon Urie bang his head in almost complete silence to his new metal song at the top of the page.
