Last year, Hovvdy offered one of the most captivating slowcore releases in recent memory with the pensive and subtle Cranberry. Their next LP is called Heavy Lifter — despite its title, the Austin duo's music has never sounded so alleviating. Take, for instance, the second single "Ruin (my ride)," a track that "explores the often complicated nature of social and professional rejection, and aims to celebrate the power in genuine connection." It's a weighty theme, but Charlie Martin and Will Taylor have fun with it, especially in the song's video which depicts a backyard hoedown.
