Squirrel Flower shares new song “I’ll Go Running,” announces tour

The singer-songwriter will play dates in North America this fall with Soccer Mommy.

April 29, 2021

On June 25, Iowa-based singer-songwriter Squirrel Flower will share her new album Planet (i), the follow-up to her excellent 2020 album I Was Born Swimming. Today we get the project's second single "I'll Go Running," right after the Songs You Need-playlisted lead track "Hurt A Fly." Beneath its gothic, funereal tone, "I'll Go Running" is a liberated song full of rich imagery that lingers long after its drawn pictures in your mind's eye. See for yourself in the track's lyric video, streaming above.

Squirrel Flower shared her thoughts on the song in a press statement:

’I’ll Go Running’ is about the darker side of being an artist - the pressure to make things brand new, shocking, to give everything away and open yourself completely without always getting intentional listening and consumption in return. To be vulnerable to a knife. To be fresh, new, to give it all away. But it's powerful to offer yourself and your art without fear, which is what I try to do with this album. That's why this is the opening track.

This September, Squirrel Flower will embark on a tour with Soccer Mommy. Find those dates below:
