Summer Walker has announced her long-awaited sophomore album in a truly bizarre fashion. In a video posted to Twitter, Walker explains that she was barred entry to the 2021 BET Hip-Hop Awards due to "COVID restrictions" and that she was planning on using the red carpet to make an announcement of her follow-up to 2019's Over It. "It's fine," she says in the clip, captioned "It's all love BET." "BET still love me, I still love BET." After she's finished speaking, the camera pans, zooming in on a building on which a message is projected: "summer walker album #2 coming november". In the tweet, she notes that more details of the project will be announced "on the anniversary of Over It", aka October 4. Walker's reference to "COVID restrictions" likely relates to the vaccine skepticism that she's expressed on social media over the past few months; in August, she posted "If u vaccinated please stay away from me", and in May 2020 she suggested that Covid was a form of population control. Watch the announcement video of Over It's follow-up below.
