Rae Sremmurd have shared the second single from Sremm4Life, the Tupelo, Mississippi rap duo’s fourth collaborative LP and their first in four years. On “Community D**k,” which follows the record’s June-released lead single “Denial,” they bring on ferocious Mobile, Alabama emcee Flo Milli for a tongue-in-cheek exploration of unreciprocated polyamory. Both Swae Lee and Slim Jxmmi lay down swift, solid verses, but Flo Milli’s contagiously confident chorus and verse steal the show. Check out the Bryan Barber-directed music video below.
To celebrate the release of “Community D**k, Swae and Jxmmi sat down with Apple Music 1’s Zane Lowe for a discussion of the new cut and the forthcoming album.
“Its pretty crazy,” Jxmmi said, describing how the track’s sing-song chorus came together. “One of our producers 30 Roc… This girl left [him] a voice note. She was singing that song. She got real creative and sang it in that melody and he sampled it on the beat. And we was like, 'This sound like the summer… It sound like Hot Boys, City Girls, and Flo Milli got that tone.' She speaks for the females in the best way, the most fun way. She gonna present it a certain a way… We sent her the song…. She killed it the first time.”
“Now we’ve grown… we understand the lifestyle 360… the ins the outs,” Swae said of the duo’s collaborative return. “We’ve been in it seven years... We know our job. We know our role. We know our sound. Even thought we weren’t dropping music, we was always making music. We’ve had so many trials and errors. We’ve seen so many fan reactions... what works and doesn’t work. It’s time to keep on feeding the fans back to back.”
