Chlöe Bailey has responded to the backlash to her Chris Brown, stating that she feels she can't do right for doing wrong. Bailey included Brown on "How Does It Feel," a song lifted from her debut solo album In Pieces, released late last month. Vocal critics of Brown, who claim he has shown little in the way of remore for his assault of then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009, were quick to call Bailey out online for her choice of collaborator.

Speaking in interview with Audacy’s V-103 podcast, Bailey leant into the idea of separating art from an artist and claimed everything works in service to the song she is recording. "I always just wanna let the music speak for itself,” Bailey said. “And to be honest, no matter what I do, people always find things to say about it, so I’m used to it. I just choose to ignore it. People have every right to their opinions, freedom of speech, and it’s up to me to choose what I give my attention and energy to."

Speaking more generally about her decisions in life, Bailey added, “Everything I’m doing is ordained by God, and I’m walking in my purpose, and anybody who has a problem with that can kiss my booty.”

In Pieces was released in March and includes the singles "Body Do" and "Pray It Away." Bailey also made a guest starring appearance in Swarm, the new TV series from Atlanta creator Donald Glover.
