Last month, a video of Usher serenading Keke Palmer during his residency at the Park MGM Las Vegas went viral online, prompting Keke’s then-boyfriend, Darius Jackson, to publicly shame her online. “It’s the outfit tho.. you a mom,” he wrote in a since-deleted tweet (Palmer and Jackson have a six-month-old child together).
Today (August 16), the saga continues with the release of Usher’s “Boyfriend” and its accompanying music video, in which Keke becomes Usher after locking eyes with him in an elevator. “Somebody said that your boyfriend’s lookin’ for me / Oh, that’s cool, that’s cool,” Usher sings in the hook, seemingly taunting Jackson. “Well, he should know I’m pretty easy to find / Just look for me wherever he sees you.”
Just 30 minutes after the video’s release this morning at 10 a.m., People reported that Palmer and Jackson had parted ways. The FADER has reached out to a representative of Palmer for further comment.
“Boyfriend” follows closely on the heels of “Good Good,” an early-August Usher cut featuring Summer Walker and 21 Savage. Palmer released Big Boss, her first album since 2007’s So Uncool, in May, and is currently on tour.
