Megan Thee Stallion‘s internet-incinerating “Hiss” has debuted at No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in its first week of release. It’s the Houston rapper’s third No. 1 song following 2022’s Grammy-winning “Savage (Remix)” featuring Beyoncé and “WAP” with Cardi B.

“Hiss” was critically praised for its inventive and ferocious lyricism (including by this very website), and fans of both rap and gossip paid close attention to every line, speculating on who its disses could be targeting. Nicki Minaj evidently felt called out by a line referencing Megan’s Law, the federal requirement for sex offenders to register with the government (Minaj’s husband Kenneth Petty was convicted of first-degree attempted rape in 1995 and is now a registered sex offender). Minaj responded with a diss track of her own, the widely panned “Big Foot.”

This summer, Megan Thee Stallion will release a new album and tour the country. She recently signed a new deal with Warner Music Group that allows her to retain full ownership of her masters and publishing.
