Big Thief have surprise-released Passional Relations, a new five-track EP, exclusively for sale on the indie-folk band's website. Proceeds from the sales will benefit charities and communities affects by the Los Angeles wildfires.

The band writes: "The majority of the proceeds will be donated to the PLUS1LA Fires Fund, which directly supports organizations working on the ground to address critical needs like housing, education, animal welfare, and more. And the rest will go directly to local musicians, artists and community members who need extra support during this time."

The tracklist, consisting of Big Thief's "favorite unreleased songs," was recorded between 2018 and 2020. Passional Relations is the first new Big Thief project since 2022's Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe In You. In July 2024, bassist Max Oleartchik left the band for "interpersonal reasons."
