Big Thief have shared details of a new studio album. The band's sixth album, titled Double Infinity, will be released on September 5 via 4AD. The lead single from the project, "Incomprehensible," can be heard below.
Double Infinity is the follow-up to 2022’sDragon New Warm Mountain I Believe In You, and was recorded last winter at New York City studio Power Station, New York City. Contributors to the album include ambient and new age musician Laraaji, singer-songwriters Alena Spanger, Hannah Cohen, and June McDoom, plus jazz bassist Joshua Crumbly.
Immediately after the release of Double Infinity, Big Thief will head out on their recently announced Somersault Slide 360 Tour. The extensive tour includes shows at Berkeley’s The Greek Theater, Los Angeles’s The Hollywood Bowl (their largest non-festival headline show yet), Boston’s MGM Music Hall, New York’s Forest Hills Stadium, and their Mexican debut at Teatro Metropolitan. Since the release of Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe In You three years ago, each of the three Big Thief members has released solo projects; Adrianne Lenker put out Bright Future in 2024 while Buck Meek shared Haunted Mountain the year before. James Krivchenia released two albums; 2022's Blood Karaoke and this year's Performing Belief.
