Freeload: Phoenix, “1901”

February 23, 2009

Anyone who has closely followed TheFADER.com since its inception knows that Phoenix has been the sugar on our macarons for a long ass time. The band has a new album Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix coming out the week before Memorial Day which plants it like a slightly cat-pissy-smelling beach umbrella in our summer music lineup (We don't mean to say Phoenix smells like cat piss [they smell like champagne and crêpes], just saying that's how it is with those umbrellas). This first single is a perfect tease to what we already know is going to be a warm weather mainstay for many of you — their trademark hooks now coated in cocoa butter synths — and you can download it free of guilt from the band's own website.
