Sleepwalking

Doug Aitken's Sleepwalkers installation begins its month-long run on the exterior facades of MoMA next Tuesday, but we figured we'd give you an early heads-up since it's New York and you're soooo busy that you don't even have time to walk past buildings. Plus, one of its characters is played by our man from Brazil, Seu Jorge, and another by our girl from Georgia, Chan Marshall. Knockout Ned and Cat Power gigantified. If that doesn't get you at least marginally excited maybe you should move to that other city where all the cool stuff happens. Sleepwalkers follows the nocturnal commutes of four workers, the other two of whom are played by Tilda Swinton and Ryan Donawho, projecting their travails across several massive screens so that viewers must circle MoMA's building in order to watch the full story. It's Aitken's first public artwork in the U.S. and a pretty ambitious one, if you ask us. Check the exhibition's trailer and another image after the jump.
