CRUSHFanzine Pop-up Shop at the Ace Hotel

CRUSHFanzine’s most recent issue is all about obsession, and judging by the toe-suckingly tantalizing cover, they’ve made sure foot fetishists get their moment too. CRUSH are also curating a special one-day-only pop-up shop this Saturday at the Ace Hotel New York, filled with goodies inspired by issues past and present, like dark and handsome French actors and strapping Russian-American soccer players who moonlight as models, among other man crushes. There are reportedly limited-edition Converse on sale, and tasteful bits and bob from brands like Opening Ceremony and Commonwealth Utilities. Full shopping list and RSVP details after the jump.

Style: Converse 1HUND(RED) Conversations

The theme of last night’s 1HUND(RED) artist’s dinner was conversation, and with the likes of Terence Koh, Waris Ahluwalia and Lupe Fiasco in attendance, there were healthy doses of it to go around. Over the course of the project, Converse has pulled in collaborators from all over the world, and when you consider the various artifacts and hand drawn/embellished chucks that have been submitted, it seems like each shoe has its own art-fashion dialogue—Koh’s very sleek all-white shoe, for example, was inspired by a pearl necklace (wink, wink). We sat at Lupe’s table, he was one of the hosts but he also has his own shoe in the series, inspired by the old riddle, “black and white and read all over, Lupe had thrown a bit of French on the sole of his newsprint covered shoe, but no one was actually sure if “Supplementaire! Supllementaire!” actually translated as “Extra! Extra!” in the newsstand, read-all-about-it sense of the word. Maybe it’s just the online translator getting a bit too literal. French language experts please holler.
