Video/Freeload: Chairlift Vs. Kanye + Blaqstarr Bang Out

So yesterday when we questioned the completion status Kanye’s new video we neglected to actually check Kanye’s post of it. Turns out he only released it now because Chairlift had already released a video for “Evident Utensil” using the same distorted pixel technique. In all truthiness, the latter pulls it off much more impressively than the former but both still drive us to the brink of brain stroke. On the opposite end of the anatomical spectrum, Green Label Sound just put up a spacey new Blaqstarr remix of their exclusive track with Chairlift’s Caroline Polachek and Flosstradamus that is helping us work off some backfat. Boosted Castles

We shipped Toronto-based Crystal Castles into the Nevada desert last week for a Magic Trade show dance party hosted by boosted and The FADER. With ’90s warm-up set courtesy of Roxy Cottontail and Staccato and full-on dance breakouts from Flosstradamus, there were many a floor-shaking roof-raising moment to be had. And mid-through CC’s performance–cross our hearts!–the roof of the Moon nightclub, a new spot that sits right atop the Palms hotel, did literally roll back for a hot second to let off all that pent-up party steam. Pre-dancing mayhem we took a turn around the Boosted “Streetwear Lounge” at Magic for a mini-tour of their new accessories collection. Our favorite picks of the season include a rather fetching new collaboration with Claw (the red and black fanny pack is the definitely the ticket) and zebra-covered backpacks in soft pastel.
