Jim Jones f. ATM, “Fast Money” MP3

Jim Jones is a master of the moment. It’s ridiculous. Who knows when this song was recorded, but it’s recent enough to take shots at Jay’s “D.O.A.” and “Off That,” all while a bootleg Drake autotunes a hook over a bouncy one drop beat. Couldn’t be fresher if it was made this morning. Not to mention, Jim perseveres because his shit talking is on another level. He never complains, only wonders why anyone would question his awesomeness, clowns you and you can’t even be mad because it’s too funny, like when he rode into Band of Ballers on a skateboard, won the whole thing then said, “We talk shit and flush the toilet. You know what I’m talking about!? Ballin’!!” Yes. Incredible.

Video: Juelz Santana, “Days of Our Lives”

We played this song on The Let Out, our weekly radio show, last Friday, and though it made us feel good and New Yorky and whatnot, we still have this lingering feeling that Juelz and Cam are really bummed they aren’t bros anymore, like they’re “doing it” and “can’t be stopped” but really they just want to be shopping for jackets together on the weekends. Let’s bring it together for Summer Jam, dudes!

We get music in some of the darndest ways here at The FADER. Of course people email, and sometimes they send bulky FedEx packages with these shiny little discs enclosed. One time there was even this kid who got The FADER office address and waited patiently in the lobby for a certain editor to return from lunch so he could hand deliver a mixtape. Then there are cases like that of “Uptown,” which we heard on the radio last night during a DJ Camilo
mix set, and after some cursory internet research found out we’re like a month late on. For the best ode to upper Manhattan since our FADER #59 Harlem story, DJ Webstar collected some of Harlem’s finest including Jimmy Jones and Young Wonder, who may or may not be a Smack DVD battle legend named T-Rex. We’re not sure how Yonkers became Uptown, but Styles P also joins the gang to expound on some of the more hood fab experiences and cultural signifiers we touched on in our Harlem story.

It’s Monday. Here’s Some New Videos.

Most people in the music-related industry, including us, are putting the pieces back together this morning after SXSW, so we’re just gonna throw up a few notable new videos and chill out for a minute. Up top is UNKLE’s new one made up of an edit to Spike Jonze and Ty Evans’ Fully Flared Lakai video from last year which most people consider the greatest skate film of all time. After the jump, our dudes Jim Jones and Ryan Leslie team up for “Precious” off Jones’ Pray IV Reign and Lily Allen stops by the Porter Wagoner Show c. 1976 for her new one “Not Fair.”

If there’s one thing we’ve learned about Ron Browz it’s that he loves dancing. With girls. And then making songs about it. And if there’s one thing we’ve learned about Jim Jones, it’s that he doesn’t like to be left out. Especially when there are girls and dancing involved. “Dancing On Me” is the latest Browz byproduct devouring clubs and high school basketball game Majorette routines. More chicken noodle soup for the soul.

Live: Wale and Friends at Highline Ballroom

We’ve seen Wale perform so many times since featuring him in F44 that we’re well past the paternal conceitedness we once felt so rightfully entitled to. At this point we’re just happy he can afford to drape himself in Louis Vuitton sweater/hat combos. Aside from the new digs though, the DMV’s greatest hope has also gained many a new friend, displaying a wealth of them last night at Highline Ballroom. Wale was backed by legendary go-go band UCB, who got extra loose during renditions of Junkyard Band’s “Sardines,” EU’s “Da Butt,” and their very own (and very amazing), “Sexy Lady.” After he warned that it was about to get “real hip hop in here,” out jumps Freeway (beard still sticking out) for his verse on “What We Do,” followed by Young Chris, who sounded angelic over UCB’s rendition of The Young Gunz ski lodge fail-safe, “No Better Love.” The three then broke into an impromptu cipher, in which most appropriately both Rhymefest and Craig G could be seen offstage waiting to be waved home. Neither ended up onstage, but before closing things off with “Nike Boots,” Wale brought out Ryan Leslie for “Addicted,” finally apologizing for being a “cheater.” Apology accepted. Also in attendance were 9th Wonder and (in a well protected VIP area) ex-Def Jam president, Jay-Z.

Freeload: Jim Jones f. Lil Wayne, Twista & NOE, “Swagger From Us”

First of all, we’d like to apologize to Jim Jones for the relative lack of coverage lately on TheFADER.com—sometimes we get overwhelmed by the quality and quantity of content coming out of Harlem and rather than try to keep up we just watch in awe. But today, we’re gonna try to catch up, mostly because Jim’s verse on this new remix of “Swagger Like Us” is like comedy thunderbolted from heaven into stone tablets of blogging: Caught niggas sleepin’ with no pajamas on… Looking all gully in my Hermés skully… Niggas can’t touch me like Jim had the coodies [he got the COODIES]. And then NOE comes on HA! And Twista rapping faster than ever! Man, Wayne is like the least interesting thing on here. Also, the video above is called “Jim Jones & Skull Gang Present A Tribute To Bad Santa Starring Mike Epps Part 2″ and is a preview of a Christmas mixtape of the same name. It doesn’t stop, people.

Video: Jim Jones f. Ron Browz & Juelz Santana “Pop Champagne”

Tuesday night, Harlem looked alot like the set of this video. People bathing each other in champagne, children (and adults) dancing themselves into collapse, Mike Epps wandering around, hologram Juelz appearing live from what looks like his own body’s mitosis at random points throughout the night… Granted, some of that was indeed champagne-induced but people had a lot to be happy about. Word to Art Kane, ’twas was a great day in Harlem (as well as the rest of the country). We’re not exactly sure how this became Jim Jones featuring Ron Browz as opposed to vice versa, but we can’t be mad at a video that features Tone Wop.
