Marc Moureau, “A1″ MP3

It’s Friday morning in New York and it is still dark outside because of the rain. After listening to Mariah Carey cover Foreigner about seven times in the office and yelling gratuitous expletives about its awesomeness, this Marc Moureau song, despite being jamming disco, is a soothing salve. Hyper electronic synth funk basslines, paired with a nice 2009 dark roast. Marc Moureau is the alias of German electro producer Tensnake, which is an alias for actual dude Marco Niemerski. If you’re making hot French-style seaside disco pour le club, taking on a name like “Marc Moureau” is a good idea. And serendipitously, he has a pic of Mariah on his Myspace, looking all Xanadu. (Listen to her track after the jump.)

Video: Mariah Carey f. Gucci Mane, “Obsessed” + New Gucci Mane Mixtape

Gucci Mane in a crisp white suit looking like he has no idea what he is doing + Mariah Carey as a pseudo Unabomber with gnarly face pubes = Everyone wins. Gucci hopped on the video for “Obsessed,” which he added a verse to. Yesterday he also dropped a new mix with DJ Drama, The Movie Part 2, with a grip of Drumma beats and a couple of sweet lines from Shawna and a couple of not so sweet ones from Rock City.

Ahhh! The heavens have parted and the sun has rained down droplets of metallic confetti on our once-dreary lives! YES it is a new Mariah Carey song, off her amazingly titled next record Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel. We needed the ever-welcoming sound of her glossy high range and spiritual Xanadu to get us through the rest of the day, and we like the comfortingly high-low combo of Mariah, IROC-Z autotune, and Gucci Mane thugging it out on the intro. However this track has sparked a minor office debate: If you are a rapper, and you do a guest spot on a Mariah track, are you cursed? Examples used: Ol Dirty Bastard (RIP-las drogas), Bone Thugs N Harmony (chaos), Jay-Z (he was on “Heartbreaker” in ‘99, arguably his pique), Cam’Ron (froke out for like five years; drove an unfortunately colored sports car), Busta Rhymes (got into a weight loss contest with Nore), Nelly (who?). It’s hard to imagine anything toppling Gucci from atop the swag staff but we warn him to protect his, as they say, neck from the great winds of destiny. Mariah will always prevail!

Freeload: The-Dream f. Mariah Carey, “My Love”

This song off Dream’s forthcoming record Love vs. Money tells us that if Mariah Carey and The-Dream were in love, all they would do the livelong day is: go to amusement parks, get cotton candy, sit on the ferris wheel and hold hands for hours, each suspended in their own unique, very specific brands of glossy, sensuous vocal fantasia. Mimi drops the glitter and Dream provides the shellac. It sounds like a craft project but we are deeply into fantasias, which we will explain more thoroughly once we pick ourselves off the floor from swooning at this track.

Here in sunny and beautiful FADER-land we have fully embraced this Summer’s crop of R&B jammers, including like half of Mariah Carey’s new album. This remix isn’t featured on the album but is notable because R Kelly is on it, and he is doing that awesome thing he does where he completely disregards whatever is going on in the original song and sings a verse about singing a verse plus some awkward sexual stuff.

Audio: Mariah Carey f. Young Jeezy, “Side Effects”

Today is not actually FADER r&b day, but since that’s kind of how it’s turning out we decided we should post this. There was some talk around the office the other day that if Jeezy went ahead and made a weird side project album where he worked with singers to make melancholy and/or brooding club songs we’d be totally into it and now we are even more sure of that. Also, Jeezy says: Misery loves company so we ain’t trying to hang with y’all. Go in dude!
