The FADER Issue 63 Podcast MP3
- story THE FADER
- photo Jason Nocito (F63)
Our annual Fall Fashion issue is covered by the unlikeliest of stars—Drake, the former teen heartthrob turned hottest thing in rap, and Girls, whose main man escaped a Christian cult to write ragged pop songs. We’re all about switching up life plans this autumn and opting for the unexpected—partially inspired by these guys, partially by performance arty fashion designer Henrik Vibskov, also featured in the issue, who we’re using as our muse into 2010 (don’t freak out if you see us in the street wearing yarn over our faces). The latest issue podcast reflects our transformational attitudes, with disparate but equally awesome tracks by Pissed Jeans, Glasser, Douster, Kingdom, Free Energy, French Montana, plus a ton more, and of course the aforementioned cover stars. Download it below while asking yourself, “HOW CAN I BE MORE AWESOME THIS AUTUMN (if that is even possible)?” And keep TheFADER.com on lock, for on September 1st, we shall post the PDF of our entire issue for free, because we’re just that into you.

Pissed Jeans, “Dream Smotherer” MP3
- story Peter Macia
- photo Gabriele Stabile (F63)
Pissed Jeans is from Allentown, PA and they make guitars sound like that city’s abandoned blast furnaces, not the clank of machinery but like dipping your head in molten ore. It’s awesome. At the same time, Matt Korvette screams about cubicle life with the outward rage most people desire to express around 9:05am Monday morning. As much as we love music that sounds like a beach party or a kitten’s heartbeat, this is what gets us through the day. Pissed Jeans’ King Of Jeans is out now on Sub Pop. Read about them in the newest issue of The FADER.

Schnipper’s Slept On
- story THE FADER
Each Tuesday, FADER editor Matthew Schnipper highlights an underappreciated recent release he thinks we need to know about. He also lets women wear his glasses. Now they are broken. Real talk about this and Pissed Jeans Hope For Men, which you can purchase here.

You can’t see Sean McGuiness too well in that photo but, trust, he’s playing the drums really really hard. Dude is a beast! And he is also sweaty and he has a tattoo of the DC Metro and reps Antioch Arrow and the suburbs and wrecks shop with los Pissed Jeans. Check dude out on the front cover of their LP Hope For Men (he’s the one staring into the camera getting hugged by Mike Petillo) and read his life philosophies when you click that more link DUDES.
