Talbot Tagora, “Ichthus Hop” MP3
- story Sam Hockley-Smith
One time we hit up Seattle’s Talbot Tagora to find out what their deal was. They responded to our questions in all caps and then informed us that their band wasn’t named after the funny looking car but actually had to do with some cat they knew. “Ichthus Hop” is the first single from their upcoming album Lessons in the Woods or a City. It’s a mess of guitars crashing with off-key vocals floating around on top. It’s not quite a chant, but it’s not really singing either. Its’ fairly impenetrable, but the strong pop structure under all that noise is exposed with a couple listens.

- story THE FADER
We’re a little too starry-eyed for our own good sometimes, but when we heard Talbot Tagora’s newest song, we pictured them on stage at a summer festival on the rolling hills of upstate New York and rows of people flipping their long hair around. They’ve been away awhile and returned with a new energy. Once a slower, lazier band, with their new song “Internet Fixture” from a split with Bipolar Bear, they’ve sped and tightened the sound. Like a psychedelic marching band, the song keeps pushing forward to a constant beat, but instead of being abrasive or jittery, their quick, steady drum beat mixed with underwater, fuzzy vocals and guitar make a chorus of sound that we’d love to, at some future concert, stomp along in unison with. - story THE FADER
In our ongoing journey along the No Age/Abe Vigoda/Smell axis, we found ourselves in Seattle, jamming in ways we never knew we could to Talbot Tagora’s cover of Elastica’s “Connection.” We hit the dudes up for a quick Q+A about why they have the same name as a funny looking car and a bunch of other stuff, which you can check out IN ALL CAPS after the jump. Also, download “Hunger Strike” below for 0.00 dollars, and if you’re into it you can pay Real Money for their music here.
